Anthony S Weiss
Professor Tony Weiss is the McCaughey Chair in Biochemistry, Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biotechnology, Leader of the Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine Node at the Charles Perkins Centre, and Professor at the Bosch Institute at the University of Sydney, and Distinguished Visiting Professor, Brain Korea 21 Plus. Professor Weiss is the scientific founder of the clinical stage company Elastagen Pty Ltd. He leads research on human tropoelastin and synthetic elastin, is an inventor on over forty awarded patents in fifteen fields and serves on nine editorial boards. Professor Weiss is a Fellow of seven societies, including Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering, Fellow of the American Institute for Medical & Biological Engineering, and Fellow of Biomaterials Science & Engineering. Recent awards include the Innovator of Influence Award, the Australasian Society for Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering Research Excellence Award, the inaugural Federation of Asian & Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists Entrepreneurship Award and the Royal Australian Chemical Institute Applied Research Medal.
